PRESS RELEASE for BEST OF THE 20th CENTURY ALBUM
July 25, 2007. For immediate release.

SINGER/SONGWRITER JONATHAN RUNDMAN
RELEASES BEST OF THE 20th CENTURY ALBUM

Minneapolis, MN – Critically acclaimed Minneapolis-based songwriter Jonathan Rundman has released a new album, The Best of Jonathan Rundman: 20 Songs from the 20th Century. The CD features highlights from his earliest albums, plus previously unreleased recordings, remixes, and alternate versions of songs written in the ‘90s. The first pressing of the album comes packaged with the bonus 4-track demo CD Myopia featuring 20 additional songs.

The Best of Jonathan Rundman: 20 Songs from the 20th Century provides an excellent overview of the musical adventurousness that has likened Jonathan Rundman to everyone from Neil Young to Liz Phair to Marshall Crenshaw to Giant Sand. For the past decade, music journalists from coast to coast have raved about Rundman’s unusual wordplay, inventive instrumentation, and addictive melodies. Guest musicians on the album include guitarist Dag Juhlin (Poi Dog Pondering, Scott MacCaughey, John Wesley Harding), drummer Pat Tomek (The Rainmakers), Mike Bradburn & Mark Balletto (of Chicago band Dolly Varden), and local Twin Cities musicians including guitarist Matt Patrick (Sara Groves, Jason Gray), drummer Troy Alexander (Honeydogs, Tina Schlieske), and banjo player Anders Gyllenhaal (former editor of the Star Tribune newspaper).

2007 marks the 15-year anniversary of Rundman’s career as a national touring musician. His previous studio release, 2004’s Public Library, was recorded in New York City with legendary Americana band The Silos. Public Library turned up on the Best Local Albums of the Year list in the St. Paul Pioneer Press as well as the City Pages, and was acclaimed in national publications like Paste and Performing Songwriter.

“Public Library weds clever, intelligent songwriting to delectable guitar hooks”
PASTE MAGAZINE

“Rundman's lyrics paint vivid pictures...utilizing clever phrasing and fresh rhymes."
PERFORMING SONGWRITER

“literate…excellent…Public Library is a record for anyone who hasn’t given up on the idea that good songs, electric/acoustic guitars, and a great drummer are the key to all sorts of epiphanies”
CITY PAGES
